I went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince last night at the The Grove. I’ve read and re-read the books several times but it’s been awhile so seeing the movie last night made it seem brand new to me.
I forgot how much I love the characters and the story. Harry all grown up; Ron & Hermoine liking each other; Dumbledore, poor, Dumbledore. And Alan Rickman as Snape is just perfect casting.
I’m also on Book 3 of the Twilight series and I have to say Edward Cullen is one of the best anti-heroes. Makes me fall in love with a vampire.
As I’m (re)writing my own YA book, I’m powerfully aware how challenging it is to create a world of characters. I have to say that these two series are so well done, it’s inspiring. Harry Potter and Edward Cullen are characters you can’t help but love.
